How to Promote a Cellphone

October 15th, 2010

Whenever I see a cool and chic cell phone I can¡¯t help wondering how I would describe it to my friends, for cell phones are a regular topic of our daily chitchat and even if I were a salesperson how I would promote my phones to persons with discerning eyes and good taste.

First I would focus on what its version is and what special features separate it from the rest. If it is the latest, then there must be some new functions it boasts. From the touch screen years ago to the access to the Internet to the current 3G technology, TrackID, Shake Control, A2DP and etc, cell phones have been through revisions. And each of them has a selling point which is armed with the latest technology and new functions. Any customer has every reason to pick a comparatively new version over an antique one.

Then as to each of these functions, there are also small yet significant features to them. Not all the cell phones have the stand-by time or QVGA and not all the MP3 functions produce the same quality of music nor all of them have the same operation speed. In what ways my phone does better in a particular aspect than the others would be something attracting the attention of a customer.

Apart from functions, appearance is also an important element. From the first bricklike phone with antennas to the small and compact craze in the 90¡¯s to the nowadays various shapes and designs, the appearance has gone through mutations that make it cooler and cooler. Different designs appeal to different preferences. Sometimes the difference between a rectangle one and an ultra-thin one means much to someone.

If I were a salesperson, I would figure out a phone¡¯s features that make it stand out in the first place, design-wise, function-wise and version-wise. Anyway a cell phone can lay there on and on unless a especially sharp eye finds it and for that to happen it sometimes needs a little push.
